Paulina Rodriguez awarded DOE Computational Science Graduate Fellowship
New Barba-group member Paulina Rodríguez has been awarded a coveted Department of Energy (DOE) Computational Science Graduate Fellowship (CSGF). This program, running now for 30 years, confers fellows with unparalleled support and opportunities: full tuition and stipend, a twelve-week practicum experience at a DOE national laboratory, an annual fellows summit and program review, and a network of peers to enjoy for a lifetime.
The CSGF is a highly competitive award, with historic success rates around 4% and as low as 2% in engineering. We are very proud of Paulina's accomplishment!
Paulina joined our group as a new PhD student in Fall 2020. She has an undergraduate degree in applied mathematics, a master's degree with a focus on computational modeling, had a stint in industry working on analytics and front-end development, and worked as a research scientist at the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Rarely do we have the opportunity to recruit a doctoral student with such diverse and substantial preparation and experience!
